About Dr. Yassin Abd Elghaffar<\/h5>\r\n\t\t\t

The great scientist, Prof. Dr. \/ Yassin Mahmoud Ahmed Yassin Ahmed Ahmed Abdel Ghaffar, a pioneer and professor of liver and digestive medicine in Egypt and the Middle East, was born, may God have mercy on him, on January 26, 1917 AD in the city of Tala - and God passed away in May 1999 AD - at the age of He is about 82 years old - he has spent nearly six decades serving humanity and science.<\/p>\r\n\t\t\r\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

  • Dr. Yassin – may he rest in peace – was born into a family belonging to the “Abdel-Ghaffar” family, and his mother was Mrs. “Tawhida” who was the daughter of Sheikh “Mohamed Fouad Shennishen”, the Sufi Talaawi leader.<\/li>\n \t
  • Despite this lineage, the life of the child “Yassin” was painful. He lost his father at a young age. He tasted the difficulties of life that his mother faced, and it was her determination that he would receive a high-quality education.<\/li>\n \t
  • He obtained his high school diploma (Baccalaureate) from Al-Minufiyah. He enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine at King Fuad University (currently Cairo University School of Medicine).<\/li>\n \t
  • In December 1940, he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree.<\/li>\n \t
  • In 1944, he obtained a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in London (FRCP).<\/li>\n \t
  • In 1945, he obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from King Fuad University (currently Cairo University School of Medicine).<\/li>\n \t
  • In 1947, he moved to the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University upon its establishment.<\/li>\n \t
  • In 1982, Menoufia University awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his pioneering role in establishing the Liver Institute in Shibin El Kom.<\/li>\n \t

        • Professor Dr. Youssef Abdelghaffar not only excelled in the field of Hepatology and Gastrointestinal Medicine, but also became a pioneer among the leaders of liver disease research, achieving unique accomplishments in this field.<\/li>\n
        • Professor Dr. Yassin Abdelghaffar showed a great interest in studying tumors, and the majority of his research was focused on studying liver tumors. He established a specialized unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, to study liver tumors and investigate chemotherapy treatment options. He studied the role of viruses in causing liver cancer and investigated the viruses that affect the liver. Through his research, he was able to discover a virus among the known viruses worldwide that plays a role in causing liver cancer. He is considered the first to introduce endoscopy for diagnostic and examination purposes.<\/li>\n
        • He established the National Liver Institute in Menoufia, which has been operating since 1990.<\/li>\n
